Jenna Appling, LMFT, CMHS

Licensed Marriage And Family Therapist

Thank you for taking the time to visit my website. I am blessed to be able to say that I truly love my career and look forward to supporting you on your journey.

From a young age, I knew that my passion was helping children by being a safe and supportive person for them through difficult times. I did not know exactly what that would look like. Would I be a school teacher or a school counselor? Would I open a day care? While earning my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at Seattle University, I completed a Family Studies class and quickly realized that in order to help children, I needed to work with the whole family. During this time I became interested in working with adult individuals and also couples.

In 2007 I went on to pursue my Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington.  I have developed a passion for helping those who have experienced trauma. I was trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and began helping clients learn skills to empower themselves in taking control over their trauma instead of the other way around.
Since completing my Master’s Degree in 2008, I have continued to work with individuals, youth, families and couples in King County, specializing in trauma, anxiety, depression and attachment. Throughout my practice, I have encountered people who struggle with regulating their emotions while navigating life transitions. I became trained in Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT), which has become extremely successful and shown proven results in helping to reduce their anxiety, depression and self-harming behaviors.

In 2013, I became a Chemical Dependency Professional. I now feel better equipped helping people with both mental illness and substance use concerns.
I also enjoy helping students and those newer in the profession in finding their passions.

My role as your therapist is to help you find your true potential and then exceed it!  I look forward to working with you, your child and your family!
